Individual Employers & PAs Funding
Funding is available from Skills for Care to support training for individual employers and their Personal Assistants.
Skills for Care Funding for Individual Employer and Personal Assistants learning and development.
*** THIS FUNDING HAS CLOSED FOR 2017/18. THIS PAGE WILL BE UPDATED WHEN AND IF 2018/19 FUNDING HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED BY SKILLS FOR CARE ***
If you employ your own care and support (an individual employer), you can apply to Skills for Care for funding to cover the cost of care related training for yourself and your Personal Assistant (PA).
If you receive a direct payment from your local authority, a Personal Health Budget (PHB) or use your own money to employ your own care and support staff, you can apply for this funding.
The money can be used for different kinds of care training like moving and assisting, first aid, communication, dementia awareness, diabetes awareness, risk assessments, skills for employers, and qualifications like a diploma in health and social care. Personal Health Budget (PHB) holders please note: although the fund can be used by PHB holders for learning and development (for the PHB holder or for your PA), it is not appropriate for the fund to cover costs of essential training necessary to the delivery of your agreed care plan. This is because the NHS is free at the point of use and the NHS has a responsibility to provide everything that is necessary to deliver your agreed care.
The deadline for 2017-18 applications is Wednesday 28 February 2018.
