Diabetic Foot Screening - Ipswich

DUET diabetes provides interactive diabetes education and training to staff at all levels in the care sector, and all our workshops are delivered by an experienced Diabetes Specialist Nurse. Our workshops are for up to 12 attendees in order to maintain an interactive learning environment.

The Diabetic Foot Screening workshop is for all practitioners, from carers to trained professionals, who are involved in assessing the feet of people with diabetes. Using NICE guidance as a framework the workshop aims to equip the learner with the knowledge and skills to competently examine and assess the diabetic foot for potential and actual problems, It covers:

  • The definition of a foot ulcer
  • When foot screening should be performed
  • Who can undertake a diabetic foot assessment
  • The factors contributing to someone developing a foot ulcer
  • The method and steps to take when assessing the diabetic foot
  • Local and national diabetic foot risk algorithms
  • How to apply the correct risk score
  • Suitable footwear for people with diabetes
  • The causes of neuropathy and peripheral vascular disease (PVD)
  • Practical demonstration on how to test for neuropathy and PVD
  • The Ipswich Touch Test
  • The process of referral for the person with diabetes at each level of risk

 


Price Information

The cost is per person and includes a delegate pack, certificate of competency and a copy of the post workshop Evaluation Report. Full payment must be made in advance (by BACS or cheque).

Medicines Management in Care Homes

Training courses for Medicines Management in Care Homes are now available from Medicines Management team. This training is suitable for all care homes.

Are you handling medication correctly? Ensure you are up-to-date on:

  • correct handling of medication
  • safe storage
  • record keeping
  • legislation surrounding medicines

Attendees will gain the competencies required for giving medication to care home residents in accordance with the relevant standards and guidelines as set out by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and the Care
Certificate.

Training courses are comprehensive and suitable for staff from all care homes, including those registered to accommodate people with dementia and learning difficulties. As well as nursing and residential care home staff, the courses are also suitable for all care agency staff.
