Conflict Resolution and Personal Safety Training

Our Conflict Resolution and Personal Safety Training course will equip staff with the necessary skills to manage and de-escalate conflict promptly, professionally and safely. The course will improve your self-awareness and confidence and provide simple but effective skills to safely remove yourself from potential harm.

Conflict Resolution:
• Introducing conflict
• Communication models to resolve, defuse and calm conflict
• The procedural, environmental and legal context of violence and aggression
Follows the guidance set out by the Skills for Health. Delegates are proactively and confidently using communication skills to defuse challenging situations following this module.

Lone Worker:
• Lone Worker Policy, effective use of procedures
• Strategies and tips to ensure staff safety
Improve knowledge around working alone and the organisational policies and procedures.

This module comprises of a combination of theory and physical skills, providing techniques which meet the needs staff working in at risk roles.

Medicines Management

Mandatory training for all care staff responsible for administering medication, to offer a well-defined programme which will raise awareness of accountability and responsibility and encourage ‘safe practice’

Medicines Management in Care Homes

The training course is designed to equip staff with the knowledge and skills they need to ensure the safe handling and administration of medicines. Our medicines management expertise will ensure that you are fully up-to-date with current guidelines and best practice across all areas of medicines management.

Our training courses are comprehensive, and suitable for staff from all care homes including those registered to accommodate people with dementia and learning difficulties. As well as nursing and residential care home staff, the courses are also suitable for all care agency staff.

Moving and Handling Training

Extra Hands provide comprehensive training for individuals and companies across Norfolk.

Our Moving and Handling Training has been sourced by Residential Care Homes and other community professionals.

This training is delivered as a full day, with the aim to give staff a full understanding of the potential risks of injury to themselves and their Service Users, giving knowledge of how to eliminate unsafe practices and implement safe techniques.

Extra Hands Moving and Handling Training covers relevant legislation, along with risk assessments and the following:
• Anatomy of the spine
• Causes of back pain
• Assessing and reducing risks
• Basic principles of biomechanics
• Ergonomics
• Unsafe lifting practices
• Small handling aids
• Hoist and sling practical work

This is an interactive training session with practical involvement. Attendees are given training manuals to take away and a certificate of attendance issued.

This is a full day course within the training suite 9.30am to 4.30pm. Refreshments are provided throughout the day; however the learner will need to provide their own lunch.

Sensible clothing and footwear should be worn due to practical elements; ladies may prefer to wear trousers.
