D-Day 75th Anniversary commemorations opportunity
6 June 2019 marks the 75th anniversary of The D-Day Landings - one of the most remarkable Allied wartime operations. The Royal British Legion is working with the UK Government and other stakeholders to plan significant commemorations to mark D-Day 75, both in Normandy and across the United Kingdom.
Don't miss out on a fantastic opportunity to join the commemorations. The Royal British Legion, in partnership with Arena Travel, have chartered a ship, the MV Boudicca, to provide a fully funded tour for 300 D-Day Veterans. Each veteran is able to bring one carer who will also be fully funded. Priority will be given to veterans who participated in the D-Day Landings, with the remaining spaces allocated to Normandy Veterans via a ballot.
Pete Alder from N&SCS knows from personal experience what it is like to be disappointed not to apply on time:
"My dad landed on Gold beach with the Royal Hampshires at 7.30am on D-Day, so this anniversary always means a lot. He enquired a little too late about going to the 50th anniversary commemoration back in 1994 and didn't get a place. He never did go back."
To apply for a place on the MV Boudicca, please visit: https://www.britishlegion.org.uk/community/d-day-75/ for the forms you need to complete and return to Arena Travel by 4th March.
After your application has been received, you will receive a telephone call from a Royal British Legion representative who will confirm your eligibility. Your entry and this telephone call does not automatically entitle applicants to a place on board the MV Boudicca, but to a place in the ballot. The results of the ballot will be confirmed by Arena Travel via post. If you are unsuccessful in the ballot, you will have the option to remain on a reserve list in case a place subsequently becomes available.
