Residential and nursing care for older people cost of care

Norfolk County Council undertook a major cost of care exercise almost 3 years ago to determine actual costs of providing residential and nursing care to older people to help develop a cost model that would enable the Council to set fair prices.

The model has stood the test of time and has delivered significant increases in fee rates, however, there is now a need to revisit the model to ensure that it reflects practice and experience of caring in today‚Äôs market.

The Council is committed to working jointly with providers as part of its approach to commissioning and will be e mailing all providers inviting them to take part in this joint working. So that the process is manageable, numbers will be limited to 15 providers in total. The Council will carry out the joint work through three workshops. The workshops are at the Abbey Conference Centre, Bracondale, on the 26th June, 9th July and 26th July. The intention is that the new cost model will provide the foundation for prices from April 2019.
