Suicide prevention workshops and training

As we know Christmas can be a very difficult time of year for many people and there is a range of suicide prevention information, training and workshops available across Norfolk.

The information and training can be accessed via the Norfolk County Council Suicide Prevention pages https://www.norfolk.gov.uk/care-support-and-health/health-and-wellbeing/adults-health/suicide.

These include:

  • Free online Suicide Prevention Training – Developed by the Zero Suicide Alliance – A 20 minute online training, which aims to; enable people to identify when someone is presenting with suicidal thoughts/ behaviour, to be able to speak out in a supportive manner, and to empower them to signpost the individual to the correct services or support.
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) – Delivered by Norwich & Central Norfolk Mind. An accredited two day, interactive training that prepares caregivers to provide suicide first aid interventions.
  • Suicide Prevention Workshop – Delivered by Norwich & Central Norfolk Mind. The half day workshop explores the issue of suicide and how we can provide initial help to someone who is suicidal. The topic is discussed in a frank and open manner and participants will have an opportunity to practice the skills that they have learnt.

Details of face to face training offered by Norwich & Central Norfolk Mind is available at www.norwichmind.org.uk/learn-with-us/suicide-prevention-training.
