Social Care Information & Learning Services (Scils)
Social Care Information and Learning Services (Scils) is an online learning resource/community dedicated to the health and social care sector.
A wide range of materials are available either for online or group learning along with other services that support social care professionals in furthering their knowledge. Thanks to a county wide subscription paid by Norfolk County Council, access to the website is free for care providers in Norfolk.
To register click the scils logo below. You will require a 'registration number' which you can get by contacting N&SCS by phone or email.
The N&SCS Learning Portal
There are many high quality, free e-learning programmes and online learning resources available to the social care sector, but sometimes it can be hard to keep track of where you found it.
In order to make it all accessible in one place, Norfolk County Council has funded N&SCS to provide the Learning Portal.
Registered users of the Learning Portal can access a wide range of free e-learning resources categorised into 20 key topics.
Registration is free and easy and is open to anyone involved in the care sector in Norfolk.
To join click the purple Learning Portal button at the top right of this website.
Recognised quality online learning
The Skills for Care Endorsement Framework aims to help you buy better training for your staff. By passing their quality assurance processes, training providers can show they support excellence, have good processes in place, deliver courses that are relevant and fit for purpose, and can prove that the people who’ve attended their courses are now delivering better care.
A number of training providers that offer e-learning are now endorsed by Skills for Care.
To search the Skills for Care endorsed providers click the logo below and filter the region to 'national'. Not all of those listed offer e-learning/online learning but some do. These include Training2Care; CareSkills Academy; My Learning Cloud; Access Skills; Pro Training and Care Shield.
The British Accreditation Council (BAC) Online, Distance and Blended learning (ODBL) accreditation is designed for education and training providers which offer the majority of their courses through online or distance teaching methods. This scheme involves an inspection of the providers' online and distance training, focusing on the quality of management, delivery and technical support. Look out for this logo to see if your e-learning provider is BAC accredited.
Currently 'Mulberry House SCTV' is the only BAC accredited DVD based provider.
