Insulin Awareness Update and Injection Technique workshop (virtual)
A live and interactive webinar workshop relevant for registered nurses working for care providers as well as those working in primary care or in community teams (such as district nurses).
In the absence of the ability to run safe face to face interactive workshops (due to the coronavirus pandemic), we are offering this webinar based 'Insulin Awareness/Update & Injection Technique' workshop as an alternative way to maintain skills and confidence as well as stay up to date.
The workshop covers:
- What insulin is and the role it plays in the body
- Why do people with diabetes need insulin?
- The different types of insulin (including an update on newer insulins and other injectable treatments for diabetes)
- The administration of insulin – how and where it can be administered safely (including new devices/needles)
- Storage of insulin
- Health and Safety (Sharp Instruments in Healthcare) Regulations
- Identifying and preventing areas of lipohypertrophy
- Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) and Hyperosmolar Hyperglycaemic State (HHS)
- Q & A sessions
The session will be run an experienced Diabetes Specialist Nurse who also works within the NHS and will be as interactive as we can make it within the constraints of the virtual environment! There will be plenty of time for Q & As throughout the training.
We have limited the number of places an individual organisation can book to 5 - so that there is opportunity for at least 5 organisations to benefit from this training. If you would like additional places, please email us at email@example.com so that we can register your interest for more places. If places are still available nearer to the date, or when we schedule additional workshop dates, we will be in touch.
This training event is kindly sponsored by Owen Mumford and as a result has enabled a reduction in the individual access price. The choice of educator, topic and content is entirely independent (of the sponsor) and designed solely with the requirements of social care providers & NHS healthcare professionals in mind.
The cost is per person and includes a certificate, a copy of the core slides shared within the session plus various other 'handouts' to to further support your understanding and learning.
Full payment must be made in advance (via the Eventbrite link on our website or by BACS or cheque).
